How to get to Fukuoka Kokusai Center for the Kyushu sumo tournament
The venue is in the Chikko waterfront area of central Fukuoka. From Hakata Station it is a short bus ride or about a twenty minute walk; from the Gofukumachi subway station it is around ten minutes on foot; from Tenjin it is a short bus ride. Check the current route and bus stop before you go. Doors usually open in the morning, a few hours before the top division.

What you are seeing
- A compact venue near the harbour, next to other event halls; on tournament days the wrestler-name banners and food stalls make it easy to spot.
- Fewer crowds around the building than at the Tokyo arena, but the same slow fill through the afternoon inside.
- Nearby: the Fukuoka waterfront, and the city's ramen and mentaiko food culture a short ride away in Hakata and Tenjin.
What to watch next
- Give yourself extra time on tournament days; bag checks and gates slow down as the top division approaches.
- If you only want the big names and a full hall, plan to be inside by mid to late afternoon.
- Keep your ticket handy; re-entry rules are limited, as at every tournament.

Planning the trip from Ryogoku Station out of habit. The Kyushu tournament is in Fukuoka; the route is a Fukuoka route.
